What is a Primary election?

The purpose of a primary election is to narrow the field of candidates for a given elective office or to determine the nominees for political parties in advance of a general election. Primaries happen several months before a general election. You are not required to vote in primaries, but it is highly recommended as it influences the final candidates that will be eligible to run for the general election.

How do I check or update my voter registration? What’s the deadline for 2024?

What’s on the ballot?

It’s a long ballot this year! All eligible voters will vote for candidates for US President, all the way down to city or town council members and school board candidates.

There will also be several ballot measures on the key issues of voting rights, direct democracy and reproductive freedom. Often times propositions have a greater impact on laws and lives than elected officials so it’s vital that voters weigh in. Make sure to prioritize these propositions this November!
